Dream Food

I dreamed it was night and I was trying to make my way home on foot. I was at the place where Monterey Drive intersected Ivy street, a place I went to frequently as a child growing up. The intersection was covered with branches and bushes growing out over the street and there was a lot of traffic going fast. I wanted to cross the street to visit Grandma on the hill but I was scared I'd be hit by a car. I kept watching the headlights appear suddenly within a few feet then zoom past. It was a real white knuckle situation but somehow I made it.

I walked to the driveway only to discover someone had built a bike store at the foot of the driveway. I thought what a great idea. Grandma will like this. I went up to her house and opened the door. Inside was the kitchen and I knew at once something was bad. The kitchen was full of dead goldfish and koi. Inside tanks where the water had dried up or on the floor. It smelled fishy and Grandma's bedroom door was closed. I called and called for her but she didn't answer. I wondered when I had last visited, when anyone had last visited and I feared the worse.

Earlier in the dream we were vacationing and went to a brewery. I was sitting at the bar with all of you and next to me sat an old black man. He started singing and I realized he was something slim. He was in great voice and he sang me the blues from the chair right next to mine. I couldn't believe it and was so incredibly honored.

He was stuck in that resort town and wanted to get home but traveling through that white community was dangerous for him,  black man on his own. So my family was going to help him.

The beer at the bar was good, but the dream food was freaking fantastic. They had a grill back there and a huge list of grilled dishes, but the best grilled dish I had was the cauliflower. They held the cauliflower up to my nose to sniff and it smelled so fresh and sweet. It tasted nutted and delicious too.
