Walking on a Cloudy Day Dream

In my dream, I went out walking one morning. I wasn't really fully prepared, I had on rubber flip flops, but my real shoes were in my purse. I had the newspaper because I had been reading it and there were a few very interesting events going on in the big city.

One was a tiny sword show which included a silver cutlass.

And one was train ride to under the mountain, though that seemed a little dodgy since you know what lives under the mountain. I have nearly gone on that very ride but stepped off at the last minute.

So instead I walked down the cobbled street looking in the windows of the various shops heading toward the main green of the city.

I really wanted a cup of coffee served to me at a table by a friendly wait staff but I knew that I would be tempted to stay there too long since it was a little cold and wet outside.

I even passed a shop full of coffee pots including one enormous carafe full of dark brown coffee bubbling away on the very top shelf where no one could get it.

I reached the street that you have to cross to get to the green. The street was very very wide and there was a lot of traffic. A friendly man, who was also a little creepy, started talking to me and saying that I walked funny in the flip flops.  I couldn't wait to get away from him and I started across the street, but it was poorly timed, there were many cars coming very fast. I tried to backup quickly to the sidewalk and various cars came to screeching halts just avoiding me until at last I reached the curb but just before I could step up on to the curb my foot was hit by a tiny bronze colored toy car.

I leave the man behind and hurried up the sidewalk watching carefully for a break in traffic, it started to rain, and there was good crowd gathered up the street. I watched and finally there came a time when there was no traffic at all so I started across. As I walked I looked up the street and there was a bunch of bicyclists ready to go and then they are coming at me. I made it across, but I knocked down a red bar that was crossing the street. It kind of picked one of the cyclists up and swung them across the street through the air and bumped them against the wall where they dangled unable to move. I slunk away.

I walked across the green with clouds still over head and I saw horses with and without riders running by. Ahead was a high rambling structure that was a hotel and I went up through the gates and entered.

Inside the inn I was wandering looking through doors and at signs wondering did I want to have tea in the Loomis Sister's Lounge again and I went around a corner up some stairs and came to the women's room. I went in and found my husband  finishing his shower. I said, "oh no it's the women's room, no one must come in!" So I went to the door and held it closed while he dressed.

As I was holding the door some one pushed on it, hard and tried to come in. The door peeked open a little and in a panic I cried, "no wait a minute please," and reached out my hand to the crack in the door and grabbed something and pulled it in. It was a silver key like the very old fashioned keys used to lock doors. It was big and curiously Ankh shaped.

Dennis finished dressing and I peeked out but no one was there. So I wrapped the key in a piece of cloth and we set off down the hallways, half thinking to unlock a few doors and half thinking just to get away.

We left the hotel and entered the green, it was that dark part of  a winters day when the sun has set but there is still enough light to make things out. Still cloudy and cold and there are golden leaves all over the green.

I am hugging my husband around the waist as he walks and then he speeds up and starts running and he is pulling me across the leaves and grass which are wet and slippery so I am just flying. I am watching the ground and then the sky and the people, worried that I'll slip and fall and get muddy, but having way to much exhilarating fun to care. He says to me, "if I twist just a little I'll throw my back right out." and then I woke up.
